Court Service Specialist

The Court Support Specialist position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of court proceedings by coordinating essential support services—particularly interpreter scheduling for both civil and criminal cases. This position acts as the central point of contact between the courts and qualified interpreters to ensure meaningful language access for individuals with limited English proficiency.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Interpreter Coordination: Arrange for qualified spoken language and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters to assist parties, witnesses, and others involved in civil and criminal cases.
• Scheduling and Assignments: Manage the scheduling of interpreters, ensuring timely coverage for hearings and trials, and addressing requests when necessary.
• Ensuring interpreter services meet legal requirements and are properly documented.
• Coordinate American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Case Support: Assist court staff, judges, attorneys, and litigants by facilitating communication needs and helping to clarify procedural questions related to interpreter services.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of interpreter assignments and ensure all services comply with legal mandates and court policies.
• Liaison Role: Serve as a point of contact between the court, interpreters, and external agencies to promote collaboration and resolve issues related to language access.
