When filing for an appeal please register with the appropriate appellate court

Use our appeals checklist below as a guide when filing appeal:

  • Payment must be made before preparation of the record. A bill is generated for all costs and is sent by certified mail.
    Cost of Preparation of Record: $1.00 per page
    Transcript Handling Fee: $35.00 each
    Clerk's Certificate: $2.00
  • If you want transcripts to be sent, you are responsible for requesting transcripts from the Court Reporter. The record will not be sent until all transcripts are received. Contact the Eastern Judicial Circuit Court Reporter for transcript requests.


Checklist for Notice of Appeals

  1. Appeal must be filed within thirty days of the Judgment in the Superior Court. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-38 (A)
  2. Include the title and case number of the case. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  3. Include a name of the appellant and name and address of his/her attorney. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  4. Include a statement of the Judgment, Ruling, or Order with the correct filed in date allowing the appeal. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  5. Specify which appellate court to send the appeal to. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  6. Include a Designation of Record to be Omitted and a Statement of the Appellate Jurisdiction. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  7. State whether a transcript is to be transmitted with the record. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  8. Include a Certificate of Service showing the full name and address of the opposing counsel or party and a signature of the party or attorney of record, along with the State Bar number of the attorney signing the Notice of Appeal. O.C.G.A. § 5-6-37
  9. If the appellant is indigent, include a Request to Proceed in Forma Pauperis. O.C.G.A. § 15-6-80
  10. For inmates, please submit a Request to Proceed in Forma Pauperis Habeas Corpus O.C.G.A. §9-10-14(A)
